Animals As Teachers

Animals come into our lives to teach us something about ourselves. The types of animals we choose to adopt and take care of are reflective of our selves and the lessons we need to learn. In actuality, the animal often chooses us, rather than we choosing it.

There are short-term connections as well as long-term commitments, as in the case of many wild animal encounters. The short-term lessons are more immediate and may relate to this particular time in your life, rather than an ongoing teaching.

Often the animal teachers move on as the lesson is completed with them, but sometimes the connection is so strong that their energy lingers or comes back in another form.

Whatever the case may be, it is important to be aware of those moments that the animal honors you with its presence. All it asks of you in return is acceptance and unconditional love. Acknowledging its presence with gratitude is a tribute that shows respect for the time any animal has spent with you.  Read more

Animal Companions’ Roles

Animals are best known to humankind in their role as companions. Our animal companions often become beloved members of our family. For some people, they are a protector, confidante and playmate all in one. It can be as difficult to lose a pet as it is to lose a family member.

Our animal companions also serve an important role on a spiritual level than we often realize. Some animals may help their human caretakers with opening up to give and receive love in their lives. Others may be helping you to release past life karma such as negative or abusive behavior toward animals or the particular animal that’s adopted.

They also assist you with communication, as it may be easier for you to tell your feelings, hopes and dreams to someone who will listen unconditionally, without fear of being judged.

Sometimes pets take on our emotional or physical issue, choosing to do this because of their love for us or because we aren’t able to handle things on our own.

Whatever role our animal companions have chosen to play in our life, they do it with unconditional love and deserve to be honored and respected. It is all too easy to take our animal friends for granted.  Read more

Animals As Messengers

We receive messages from Nature every day. The interrelationship between our planet and every living thing is powerful. If we pay attention and are aware of our natural surroundings, we can make the connection between what is going on in our world and how it affects everything around us.

The animals, birds, fish and insects that share this lovely home with us have our best interests at heart. They continuously communicate with us through their presence and actions. We can learn to take the time to listen and understand their spiritual messages.

Becoming Aware of Messages

Animals, whether they are wild or tame, have an energy that is closely related to that of ours. Our awareness of their energy brings a new perception and an ability to see things differently, creating a long-lasting, mutually beneficial energetic correspondence with all. We are here to teach and learn from one another.

Each animal species has its own characteristics, strengths and weaknesses. When there is an unusual or repetitive visitation by a certain animal, it wants your attention in order to deliver a message to you. It could be a communication from your favorite deceased pet or a message asking you to be aware of something presently going on in your life.

Your attentiveness to these messages can bring you peace, clarity and understanding. Once a situation is revealed to you, you are able to deal with it and improve it. You also learn to appreciate awareness of something greater going on in your life than you may have been previously conscious of. Read more

Kitty’s Bedtime Prayer

Now I lay me down to sleep,

I pray this cushy life to keep.

I pray for toys that look like mice,

and sofa cushions, soft and nice.

For grocery bags where I can hide,

just like a tiger, crouched inside!

I pray for gourmet Kitty snacks,

and someone nice to scratch my back.

For window sills all warm and bright,

for shadows to explore at night. Read more

Conscious Sentient Friends: The Animals

All living beings (including humans, animals, plants) have consciousness. Various spiritual teachers and animal communicators uphold the belief that some animals are beings from very high levels of consciousness who came down in animal form to help humankind, other beings and the planet. They have healing power, blessing power, telepathy and other extra-sensory perceptions that most humans do not possess or have forgotten how to use them.
